Strategic Factory Named a SmartCEO 2016 Corporate Culture Award Winner
Baltimore SmartCEO recently announced the 2016 Corporate Culture Award winners, and Strategic Factory made the list! The Corporate Culture Awards celebrate 50 companies in Greater Baltimore that have successfully championed a positive, productive and performance-driven culture, and have worked with their employees to develop successful cultural practices.
All winners will be profiled in the November/December issue of SmartCEO magazine and celebrated at an awards ceremony on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Columbus Center. The ceremony is an expected sell-out event where the leaders of Baltimore’s top companies will gather to mingle, celebrate and share stories about their collective successes. The event will kick off with a high-energy networking reception, complete with fun activities, including ping-pong (Strategic Factory has sponsored the ping-pong table!), a putting green and a basketball shootout. Accompanying the fun is a video-packed awards ceremony that will honor the leaders of Baltimore’s top company cultures.
The 2016 Corporate Culture Award winners have realized that running a company is more than head count and the bottom line. It’s about creating a place where creativity, energy and ideas are cultivated. Through this they are able to not only enhance performance and sustain their companies’ competitive advantages but also enrich the lives of those they employ and inspire them to make a greater impact on the world. The company culture at Strategic Factory is certainly unique, and it is fitting to be recognized by an organization as respected as SmartCEO. We’ve highlighted a few of our memorable events on our social pages as well as this very blog, but here’s a small sample of some of the things that make Strategic Factory such a special place to spend your work day.
We created a company currency – $tollars – used to purchase items from our $tollar Store, including power banks, drinkware, and branded apparel. $tollars can be earned by winning contests, for going “above and beyond” and by winning our daily attendance BINGO game. Team members are also given $tollars on their birthday and anniversary. You can also trade in your $tollars for a gift card to Target, or donate them to a local charity.
These monthly events serve as a “first interview” for potential new team members, and are beneficial as leadership is able to meet with multiple qualified candidates at one time. They allow us to hire the right people for the job THE FIRST TIME. We’ve hired quite a few of these applicants, many of whom were referred by an active member of the team (team members are given $100 when a referred employee hits the 90-day mark, and another $100 when they have been with the company for a year).
Philanthropically, we are a proud sponsor of numerous local organizations and events including the Pikesville 5K, Living Legacy’s Donate Life Family Fun Run, Hadassah’s Check It Out Challenge and Cell-A-Brate Event, The Arc, Jewish Community 长城彩票官网, LifeBridge Health’s Race for our Kids, Komen Maryland’s Race for the Cure and the Baltimore Humane Society’s Black Tie and Tails Gala and Dogfest.
As a Maryland company we believe in supporting our local community and working towards a better tomorrow for our neighbors. Our initiatives vary from donating money, donating print work, volunteering at events and even offering employment.
SF Cares organizes events both internally (onsite either during or after work hours) and externally (at an off-site location, typically after hours). We hold annual mini golf and bowling outings, went to an Orioles game in April and September (we won both games!) and recently team members took a trip to the Renaissance Festival.
We also partake in various #NationalDays throughout the year, like #IceCreamSandwichDay,#PopcornDay, #HotdogDay and#BeerDay (Natty Boh visited us for happy hour this year!). We hold monthly “Celebration Days”, and feast on a giant sheet cake featuring all the names of team members who celebrate a birthday or anniversary that month.
Every June, we celebrate Spirit Week, where we choose a daily theme (Pajama Day, for example) and team members dress up to get votes and win prizes. This year, in conjunction with Spirit Week, we hosted the first-ever Strategic Factory Olympic Games, an intense competition that concluded with a company BBQcomplete with cornhole and ladderball.
During the week, we were split into teams and competed in daily “Minute to Win It” activities (Marshmallow Mouth and Pantyhose Bowling were fan favorites –). The top three teams were medaled (bronze, silver and gold) and awarded with $tollars.
We’re extremely proud to be one of the 50 companies chosen as winners, and can’t wait to attend the awards ceremony in December. Congratulations to all of our local businesses that made the list; we’ll see you soon (just be ready for a few fierce ping pong battles!).
